COURSE DESCRIPTION

Customers will be provided with an overall view of the North American Emissions directive and the solutions Caterpillar has developed for their equipment from Tier 1 through Tier 4 Final. After attending this course, customers should have a much closer understanding of the Tier 4 components and function on their applicable machines. Systems focus on when, why and how the in-cylinder and after treatment strategies interconnect and function to complete the required reduction in emissions technology.

After completion of the course, the participant will be able to understand:

Tier 1, 2, 3, 4 Interim and 4 Final implementation timelines
Types of emissions that are being controlled / minimized
Overview of the NOX Reduction System (NRS)
Overview of the fuel systems for the C6.6 / C7.1 / C9.3 engines and how they are interconnected to the Cat Regeneration System (CRS)
Overview of the CRS and the differences between T4 Interim (DOC/DPF) and T4 Final (SCR/AMOX)
Overview and disassembly (if time permits) of a T4 Interim Clean Emissions Module (CEM)
