This course provides the basic understanding on the theory and principles of power generation. The participant will be able to identify generator components, connections, and understand the basic operation of a generator package.
After completion of the course the participant will have a basic understanding of:
- Basic AC\DC theory.
- The relationship with voltage, current and resistance.
- How to identify the main parts of a generator assembly.
- How to identify the components of generator systems and their functions.
- How to identify the various voltage regulators and understand basic regulation operation.
- The operation and components of Automatic Transfer switches.
- How to calculate generator kilowatt ratings and determine cable ratings for load testing.
- How to identify the various generator control panels and package accessories.
- How to identify the shock and arc flash hazards associated with generator equipment.
- How to identify the appropriate Electrical specific PPE.
