COURSE DESCRIPTION

Applied Failure Analysis Level Three provides instruction on communication skills and fracture analysis as well as the applied failure analysis of lubrication, welds and shafts. The failure analysis process itself will focus on these subject areas as they apply to multiple components and product lines. Students will also receive instruction in parts reusability and salvage operation. Using digital imagery, the students will be required to produce and orally present a written failure analysis report of a selection of components relevant to this course as directed by the instructor. The course consists of classroom instruction and laboratory exercises concluding with case studies of failures that have occurred in the field.
