After completion of the course, the participant will be able to understand:
- Hydraulic Principles, including stating Pascal’s law and Bernoulli’s principle, and calculating pressure, flow, volume, effective area, and hydraulic horsepower.
- Hydraulic Valves, including the design and operation of the pressure relief valve, pressure reducing valve, and pressure differential valves; the design and operation of the by-pass flow control and compensated flow control valve; and the design and operation of the direction control valve.
- Fluid Power Graphic Symbols and how to trace the oil flow and how to name components on schematics.
- Hydraulic Pumps, including the operating principles for gear, vane, and piston pumps; the seven basic types of pump failure; and the distinguishing feature of each.
- Hydraulic Test Tooling, including safety when installing flow meters and when pressure testing; inline flow meter testing; and analyzing results and recommended repairs.
- 950G/966G Hydraulic System, including the operation/testing and adjusting of the pilot system and main implement valves.
- Load Sensing Pressure Compensated Hydraulic Systems, including the operation/testing and adjusting of the hydraulic pump, implement valves and signal network.
- Proportional Priority Pressure Compensated Hydraulics similarities and differences.
Successful completion of a written or online examination with a passing grade of 80%.
